Curriculum:
English Language Arts instruction provides a meaningful, integrated program that is planned and developed for all students utilizing the four language arts processes: listening, speaking, writing, and reading. Students will demonstrate standard English conventions through the writing process. All lessons, tasks, and assessments are aligned to the California Content Standards for 6th Grade English Language Arts.
Students will read short stories and informational texts that allow them to gather evidence, solve problems, and explore mysteries. Students will have opportunities to provide in-depth analysis of challenging texts through class discussions and daily writing assignments. Also, we will complete a minimum of two whole class novel studies this school year.
